About this piece

We built this red one-piece with an airy overskirt and fitted undershorts underneath. The bodice is smocked with elastic for a flexible fit that pulls on without zips or buttons. How it is made

Smocked Bodice

We gather the bodice with rows of fine elastic thread to create a stretchy panel that holds close to the chest without hardware. It pulls straight on over the hips and recovers its shape after washing.

Built-In Shorts

Underneath the flowy skirt layer, we sew a pair of soft shorts from the same rayon blend fabric. They stay put while you walk, bend, or sit on the grass, keeping everything covered throughout the day.

We cut the shoulder ties long and flat so you can knot them into classic ribbons, cross them across the back, knot them behind the neck as a halter, or wrap them around the waist.
